athlete ski

INSPIRED BY VINTAGE SKI WEAR /// RIDDLED WITH MODERN TECHNOLOGIES.

BE BOLD. BE SAFE.

It all begins with an idea, AS ALL THINGS DO. AN IDEA TO INCORPORATE SAFETY FEATURES INTO GARMENTS AND GEAR FOR THE OUTDOORS, WITHOUT HAVING TO THINK OF THE ADDITIONAL EXPENSE OR WEIGHT TO ‘CARRY ALONG’. NO ONE WANTS TO HAVE TO NEED SAFETY EQUIPMENT WHILE SKIING, BUT OFTENTIMES DON’T THINK ABOUT IT UNTIL YOU NEED IT.

THE DESIGN PROCESS

FINAL DESIGNS

  • From its inception, Athlete Ski was designed with function over form and ensuring that all garments and gear are catered toward the user. From safety gear being incorporated inside of coats and inclusive in the garment, this collection provides the athlete with a base line for what they could need on the slopes.

  • The Inspiration behind this collection was ultimately planned out with safety in mind, as well as Hi-Viz colors. Though function was put ahead of form in these designs, I wanted to ensure that the design elements still had the opportunity to stand out in this collection.

  • While designing this collection, I wanted to avoid the two Hi-Viz colors that some resorts shy away from civilians using for day to day ski - red and yellow. Though not Hi-Viz, red felt like a classic ski color, and is still incorporated in some accents. The colors I chose as well pay tribute to vintage ski apparel, just with a more modern twist and technical viewpoint.

  • Prioritizing the use of the textile and hardware for this collection is imperative. With a variety of waterproof and water repelleant fabrics ranching fron Ottertek, GoreTek, waxed canvas, nylon, down, polyester and even some natural furs, this collection is designed to keep you warm on the slopes, and keep water away from your skin.
